16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:26-20)
FBC Lathrop is a local church in a small town. But that doesn’t stop us from having a global vision when it comes to missions and outreach! Our church supports programs and missional outreaches that influence people all over the globe, reaching countless men and women for Christ across all corners of the earth. We have also sent mission teams to many different locations, including South America, Asia, and communities in the United States. There are people all over the world who do not know Jesus, and it is our goal – our mission, our desire, and our yearning – to see the Gospel spread far and wide. In Revelation, we see that there will be a “great multitude of people from every tribe, every tongue, and every nation (Rev. 7:9-10)” who gather before God to worship Him!
In Matthew, Jesus gave us the Great Commission – take the Gospel to all the people in the world. That is the basis for our missions programs at FBC Lathrop. We seek to “Know Christ and make Him known,” and what better way to do this than to engage in outreach? FBC Lathrop leads or takes part in many missionary outreaches with this far-reaching vision in mind.
